Ubuntu 11.04 code name “Natty Narwhal” has been released with its first alpha version. Ubuntu 11.04 is based on the 2.6.37-rc3 Linux kernel. Since the project is just in alpha stage the more changes will likely to be seen in coming alpha 2 and beta version, Unity has been set as default in Ubuntu 11.04 however if the graphics card doesn’t supported it it will roll back into classic gnome look. The user can choose the either unity or login into your classical gnome by choosing any of those session from GDM. Ubuntu 11.04 is schedule to release on 28th April of 2011 However The upcoming Alpha and beta version release are as follows
- February 3rd – Alpha 2
- March 3rd – Alpha 3
- March 31st – Beta
- April 21st – Release Candidate
- April 28th – Ubuntu 11.04
The major changes on the Ubuntu 11.04 alpha 1 are
- Some Minor changes in the software center.
- Features the unity desktop
Various bugs are likely to be seen in alpha version therefore it is not recommended on installing on working machine. however you can dowload it and use it on live cd or any other machine and report bugs and give feedback to the developer to support Ubuntu
